Camera Test

Exploring 120fps converted to 24fps with a digital zoom on a live fire test of a real gun.

The hair moving shows motion on a laser focused eyeline that otherwise might look like a still image.

Quick and dirty experiment compositing a muzzle flash and intentionally loud bass on the bang. (An homage to 1980's action films).

The idea is to see how simunition looks with a simple composite and sound.

Moment in time

Exploring the 12800 high ISO setting on the FX3, I was curious to see how it picks up the light in a nearly dark setting.

To add some dreaminess to the feeling of the shaky (no gimbal) footage, I bumped the colours and exposure and added a false vignette.

It's a real family enjoying a moment in time with their beautiful daughter.

Live Music

I had the privilege of filming the legendary Sister Nancy at Fortune Sound Club.

I tested out using a Gimbal with the FX3. Despite me forgetting to adjust the shutter speed on the footage, it still turned out reasonably good.

The lighting in this venue works super well with the FX3 High ISO settings.

I enjoyed exploring some classic shots. like following Sister Nancy on and off Stage, and a few beautiful moments of her connecting with the crowd.

It was an epic performance, and I had fun with the colouring.

For this one, in some places, toyed with crushing the red channel to a sepia tone, while leaving other colours intact. It made for a fun effect.

Exploring 12800 hi ISO was interesting to me.

Catching the dancer at 120fps (near the end of the edit) is a beautiful moment.

I experimented with ways to film live, and cut sections of the night together out of sequence to look like it might have been shot simultaneously.

In this one, I found a moment in the evening with the singer jumping on stage with a DJ.

I explored the 12800 high ISO setting and cutting in shots from throughout the night.

I crushed the colours in post to give it a kind of sepia tone posterized feel.

I left the blue channel intact which adds to the effect.

Here I was exploring a slower documentary style pacing with some beautiful 120fps shots mixed in.
